NEWS FLASH:
Pocahontas State Park had a fire overnight that burned near Lakeview. They cut a few fire breaks around the trails and smoke is in the air all the way down to the dam. The fire is out but it is smoking still.

Thank God for Mountian Bikers! My friend and I discovered the fire late Friday afternoon while riding Lake View. We notified Park officials and Chesterfield Co. Emergency Servies and waited until they arrived at our location. The fire was well off any of the fire roads and we did not want to assume that they would find it. The Park Official I spoke with was very thankful - he indicated that it looked like the fire had been set intentionally and because of the relativly remote area it was in probably would have done much more damage and may have even burned through the group camping cabins just of the hill if we had not caught it when we did.
